Durga Puja Celebration 2023 - Know the Dates & Auspicious timings

Shardiya Navratri, the great festival of worship of Goddess Durga, is celebrated from Pratipada to Navami Tithi of Ashwin Shukla month. The festival of Navratri is starting from Sunday. This time Navratri starts from 15th October  till 23rd October. Dussehra will be celebrated on 24th October. Different forms of Maa Durga are worshiped across the country for nine days. Devotees worship the mother by fasting for nine days.

Navratri festival comes four times in a year, out of which two are celebrated mainly and two secretly. Among the four Navratri, Shardiya Ashwin Navratri is considered to have the most special significance, at this time in almost all the small and big cities and villages of the country, the idol made from the dead body of Maa Durga is temporarily installed and worshipped. This Ashwin Navratri of autumn is celebrated as the festival of victory of Maa Durga over the demons, hence special worship of different nine forms of Maa Durga is done for nine days.

It is believed that whoever worships Mother Goddess with true heart during these nine days, all his wishes are fulfilled. On the first day, the Shailputri form of the mother is worshiped with the installation of Kalash and then on the day of Ashtami or Navami, food is offered to the unmarried girls.
